Getting to know your Chairman

George Millington has been a member of the AWI Board since 2023 and is well known across the industry as the owner and manager of Collinsville Merino Stud in South Australia. First and foremost a woolgrower, George brings a strong understanding of the commercial realities of running a modern Merino enterprise.

Alongside his on-farm experience, George has a background in finance, corporate governance and expanding businesses — areas that resonate strongly with many woolgrowers focused on building resilient, well-structured operations. His experience extends beyond production to decision-making at a board and business level, with a clear focus on accountability, return on investment and long-term industry confidence.

George is also recognised as a straight talker. His approach is practical, measured and grounded in real-world experience, with a strong appreciation of the pressures growers face, including market volatility, cost control and succession planning.

Growers can hear more from George in a recent episode of the The Yarn, where he discusses his background, leadership style and priorities as AWI Chairman. He also shares his perspective in this edition’s market intelligence providing insight into current conditions and the broader direction of the industry.
